Jesus and his disciples traveled northward through Samaria, they came to a city called Sychar.  It was a hot day and the sun beat down on the head. The sweat poured off his brow as he walked along the dusty road. It was probably mid-summer when the air is very hot that he and his disciples decided to take a rest a well. While Jesus was taking rest, the disciples went to get some food.  At that time a Samaritan woman came to draw water from the well and a long conversation ensues between her and Jesus. In fact this is the longest recorded conversation anyone ever had with Jesus. Jesus was tired and thirsty. Jesus fully human and fully God. He felt thirst and hunger like humans do. No matter, what we ever feel in life, when we are weak, we can remember Jesus know what it means

Nicodemus was a religious teacher, a Pharisee and a leader of the Jews.  He was also a member of the Sanhedrin which is a prestigious and powerful Jewish tribunal body. He stood in a high position among the ruling class in Jerusalem. He was a man of discernment as seen in his estimation of Jesus when he says, “We know that You have come from God as a teacher."   We are not sure why he chose to come to Jesus at at night. We can only speculate – perhaps the night symbolizes the darkness that surrounded Nicodemus’ heart and soul. Maybe he has stepped into the night time of his life where he had some questions that needed answers.  When we go through our times of darkness w

The turning of water into wine described by John in Chapter 2, is a sign and a miracle that teaches the demonstration of God's best in our worst. Verse 11 reads: "This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him." A sign is something that indicates the presence or existence of something else. Vital signs like blood pressure, body temperature, pulse rate, breathing rate etc. are important signs of health. Almost every product we buy has warning label. Many of them are required by law to educate consumers. This sign that Jesus performed indicates God is at His best when we are not. It is a sign that says that God

A Higher Calling

Or we see a show or hear a song that we like a lot and forward the message on social media. Or, you go to a church or Bible Study and enjoy the service or study and we rush to tell others. We want them to go there so they may share the experience we had. This is what happens in John 1:35-50. It would be a wonderful experience to go around the room and let each person tell how he or she came to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. There may be many who can say that a person, a friend or a relative or even a stranger had invited them to church  We all have different stories and experiences.  The first chapter of John does not say the birth s
