The Tale of Two Men Part 2 - The great chasm

Buy my book   " Joy in the Journey " on Amazon now 20% goes to missions  The parable of the rich man and Lazarus narrated in Luke chapter 16 talks about a rich who lived a luxurious life while Lazarus, a poor man lived outside his gates with no food, clothes or any one to care for him. Both of them died and the poor man went to heaven and the rich man is seen in eternal torment. On seeing Lazarus in the bosom of Father Abraham asked if he could send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool his tongue. Abraham tells him that there is a big chasm (a gap or abyss) between the two places and no one can go from one to the other. He also asks Abraham to send Lazarus to his five brothers to warn them so that they will not also go to the place of torment. That was also denied because the living folks have Moses and the prophets, meaning the scripture that they can read and understand. A Sunday school teacher told his class the story of the rich man

The Tale of Two Men Part 1

Buy my book   " Joy in the Journey " on Amazon now 20% goes to missions  Jesus told a 'Tale of Two Men' through a parable as recorded in the gospel of Luke, Chapter 16 . One an unnamed rich man, and the other a poor man named Lazarus. The rich man enjoyed all the wealth, friends, large family and health in this world. The poor man was hungry and thirsty living outside the gates of the rich man as sick and homeless . If you had met these two men during their life times, no one in this world would choose to be Lazarus. Yet, if you could have seen them five seconds after death, the choice would have been in the favor of Lazarus. When both died, the rich man probably had a great funeral with friends and family around. Lazarus on the other hand died without any one. The story scene then turns towards eternity where Lazarus is seen resting in peace in the bosom of the Father Abraham, while we see the rich man being tormented in eternal fire. Many feel

An Unexpected Delivery

Buy my book   " Joy in the Journey " on Amazon now 20% goes to missions  A Hollywood maternity shop received this note in the mail: "Dear Sirs, you have not yet delivered that maternity dress I ordered. Please cancel the order. My delivery was faster than yours." Sometimes, we get deliveries, faster than we expected. Unexpected deliveries will change our plans and strategies. Mary had to change her plans because the delvery of the baby happened at the most unexpected and unplanned time of her life. Luke 2:6 "While they were in Bethlehem, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them." Luke says that Mary went into labor and gave birth to her first born son, while she was in Bethlehem. Mary and Joseph were in Bethlehem for the census and to be taxed. Through Fire and Water

Buy my book   " Joy in the Journey " on Amazon now 20% goes to missions  We adjust the thermostat in the house very often. Someone in the house is either too hot or too cold. We can’t find a comfortable setting that everyone can agree on. The thermostat is more of a temptation becasue we feel that we are in control and it is very handy to use. At times situations in life can get pretty hot for us. It would be nice if we could control the conditions of life as easily as we can change the settings on a thermostat. We could choose a comfortable setting—not too hot, not too cold—that fits our liking. Nobody would choose the heat of adversity or the fire of affliction if they have a choice. In the book of Daniel, we read about three young men who were thrown in to the furnace for their faith. They had no control of the situation or the fire or the temperature. It was a real fire, the flames, which were so hot that it killed the soldiers who threw Sadrach Meshak

God's Best in Our Worst

Buy my book   " Joy in the Journey " on Amazon now  A sign posted in a hospital reads: "Our doctors are at their best when you are not". The turning of water into wine described by John in Chapter 2, is a sign and a miracle that teaches the demonstration of God's best in our worst. Verse 11 reads: "This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him." A sign is something that indicates the presence or existence of something else. Vital signs like blood pressure, body temperature, pulse rate, breathing rate etc. are important signs of health. Almost every product we buy has warning label. Many of them are required by law to educate consumers. This sign that Jesus performed indicates God is at His best when we are not. It is a sign that says that God's power is made perfect in our weakness. The Gospel of John is full of symbolism and allegory. There are many signs one c

Seasons of life

New Book release " Joy in the Journey " June  2019 The changing of the seasons is striking with beauties. Spring brings growth with new life and flowers, summer brings outside activities, fall has beautiful falling leaves of varied colors, and winter though generally darker and colder, brings Christmas and festivities. Like nature, God has blessed us with seasons in life. A person born as infant grows into a youth, then as an adult and pass through middle age and then to old age. Each season is a blessing because you had a chance to live up to that time. A young child once asked a woman how old she was. She answered, “39 and holding.” The child thought for a moment, then said, “And how old would you be if you let go?”. Most people do not want to acknowledge that they are getting older, even though that is the truth. The world seems to worship youth and is terrified of aging. Old people try to look and act like young. It is a five billion dollar industry that cat
