Either there are a lot of people in the middle of nowhere in this country or, there are a lot people in other parts of the world who don't know that they are in the middle of nowhere.  It is an idiom is a group of words established by usage having a meaning not deducible from those of the individual words. (Another example: 'raining cats and dogs'). 'Nowhere' cannot have a middle or a center. Then again, is 'middle' a word that can be used before nowhere?
